Job Description
SUMMARY:
Designs, develops, and supports electrical control systems for new and existing products. Individuals in this position work from order requirements or other specifications and arrive at final control circuitry and program logic by utilizing software and engineering calculations as required. The candidate may work independently, in a group, or serve as a Lead Engineer on assigned projects to drive customer order processing and customer interaction.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Write PLC, HMI, PC and other control programs using various software Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial equipment and machinery Create sequences of operations, electrical schematics, and control panel layout drawings with CAD software for use in customer proposals and manufacturing Generate bills of material and routings to support cost estimation and manufacturing Develop user manuals, test procedures, and other engineering documentation as required Perform electrical calculations for proper component sizing and system design Provide technical support to manufacturing / production personnel Provide technical support to customers by troubleshooting over the phone Provide field support for installation, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning of company products as required. Lead assigned projects by driving customer order processing and customer interactions Support continuous improvement initiatives related to controls, electrical systems, and engineering processes Perform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS
Proficient with PLC program development using Rockwell Studio 5000 / Logix Designer (or equivalent) PLC software Proficient with HMI graphic development using FactoryTalk View Studio (or equivalent) HMI software Proficient with electrical schematic design using CAD software Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 79 standards Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits in person or over the phone Ability to work independently, in a group, and lead technical projects Ability to collaborate with engineering, sales, and manufacturing / production personnel to meet customers' needs Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport for domestic and international travel as required Ability to obtain and maintain access to military bases and government facilities as required for customer support and project work Must be a U.S. CitizenEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant controls experience, or Associate's degree in a related engineering field with four (4) or more years of relevant controls experience. Equivalent combinations of education and highly relevant experience may be considered.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Proficient in algebra and geometry as required to solve engineering problems.COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient with Rockwell Studio 5000 / Logix Designer Proficient with FactoryTalk View Studio Proficient with SolidWorks Electrical (preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical Proficient with Microsoft Office applications Working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD softwareSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities May provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional project teamsTRAVEL DEMANDS
Occasional travel to customer sites, up to approximately 30%, is required. Travel may occasionally occur with limited notice and may include weekends or holidays as business needs require.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employee spends some time on shop floor. Most of the time will be spent sitting at a computer workstation and using a telephone.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most of the time, the work environment is a pleasant, temperature-controlled office environment within a manufacturing setting. The employees' workstation may be located on the second floor. While primarily office-based, the employee will have frequent interaction with shop floor personnel. Occasional travel to customer facilities may be required to review applications and support the installation, start-up, and commissioning of company products. In these environments, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and varying noise levels. Employees are required to comply with all company safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the work environment.NOTE:
