WORK LOCATION
This position allows for a hybrid / flexible work schedule with a mix of work spent on site at the Sargent & Lundy office and working remote from home. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Analytical Engineer specializing in Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) analysis of power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performing complex calculations related to Transient Over-Voltage (TOV), Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV), Switching Studies, and Insulation Coordination. Additionally, the candidate should possess extensive software proficiency in PSCAD or EMTP-RV.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed electrical analysis utilizing time domain techniques to evaluate system performance and identify potential issues. Perform complex calculations related to Transient Over-Voltage (TOV), Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV), Switching Studies, and Insulation Coordination. Develop and implement innovative solutions to optimize system performance and mitigate risks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise and support in electrical analysis and troubleshooting. Prepare comprehensive reports documenting analysis findings, recommendations, and design modifications. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies relevant to time domain analysis. Essential skills and experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (background in Power/Power Systems) and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred. 7 or more years of experience in time domain analysis of power systems. Proficiency in utilizing software tools such as PSCAD or EMTP-RV to perform complex electrical calculations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines. We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.
