Job Title:
Distribution Engineer Job Description This position is an integral part of the Distribution Department, where you will design and review overhead and underground distribution lines ranging from 12.5 kV to 34.5 kV. You will be responsible for engineering and designing overhead and underground cable/conduit distribution design work packages associated with new customer construction projects. Additionally, you will ensure completed designs adhere to client quality and consistency standards. Responsibilities Design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 12.5 kV to 34 kV. Develop overhead and underground cable/conduit work packages. Design complex overhead and underground distribution projects in both urban and rural environments, ensuring compliance with engineering and construction specifications. Perform field engineering to identify conflicting utilities, conduct engineering and design calculations, and program protective line equipment. Coordinate small design teams to develop budgets, prepare scoping documents, design criteria, and project deliverables. Provide engineering assistance during construction, attend construction meetings, and engage in coordination efforts and community outreach as needed. Identify and initiate corrective actions when project objectives are not being met. Interpret codes and regulations to develop standards for construction projects. Promote engineering professionalism and standards. Develop, recommend, and implement plans by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements, including all scheduling, resources, and information for complex engineering tasks. Travel up to 30% of the time to client sites; travel duration may vary depending on project needs. Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience with utility distribution engineering and design. Knowledge of power distribution systems. Experience working on utility distribution services or electrical engineering within commercial construction. Experience drafting/designing overhead distribution and underground utilities. Ability to design electric systems and utilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Zero to two years of experience with electric utility distribution design projects. Zero to two years of experience in overhead, URD, re-conductoring, asset replacement projects, and underground cable/conduit distribution design work package development. Zero to two years of experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects in urban and rural environments. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution. Work Environment The position offers a hybrid schedule with work from home options on Mondays and Fridays. The standard working schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexible hours ranging from 7-3, 8-4, or 9-5. Employees will receive 3 weeks of PTO. Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bellevue, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $36.06/hr.
