Summary:
This role supports industrial electrical engineering and substation design work for power generation, gas plant, and oil and gas related projects. The work centers on medium and low voltage power distribution, substation design packages, equipment specifications, engineering calculations, and client-facing technical documentation. Requirements B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5-20 years of electrical engineering experience in oil and gas, gas plants, power generation, or similar industrial environments. Electrical substation design experience is required, ideally supporting 13kV-345kV projects including physical layouts, grounding, cable routing, control buildings, and design package reviews. Experience specifying LV/MV transformers, switchgear, motor controls, and VFDs, with working knowledge of IEEE, NESC, NEC, and utility-specific standards; Texas P.E. license is a strong plus. Responsibilities Lead and/or support substation projects from concept through design, construction support, and closeout for industrial and power-related facilities. Develop and review one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC power systems, battery sizing, P&C schematics, SCADA/communication systems, relay panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable lists. Perform and review engineering calculations for grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, voltage drop, cable sizing, conduit fill, short circuit, and load flow, while preparing reports, BOMs, and cost estimates. Important Notes Hybrid schedule based in either Houston, TX or Denver, CO, with 3 days in the office and 2 remote days each week. Monday-Friday, 40-hour workweek supporting industrial power, gas plant, and substation project work.
