This is an exciting opportunity to work on the future of the electric grid and clean energy infrastructure. The team is focused on developing advanced Protection & Control (P&C) standards, integrating innovative technologies, and improving the reliability and resiliency of critical utility systems. Key Responsibilities Develop, test, implement, and maintain Protection & Control (P&C) standards Support relay protection system modernization and upgrade initiatives Perform engineering analysis, fault studies, relay coordination, and technical evaluations Work with microprocessor relay platforms, configuration software, and protection system applications Support development of: Relay setting guides Calculation templates Configuration files Drawings Test procedures Research emerging technologies and industry best practices Provide technical support for substation P&C devices, monitoring, and analytics Conduct technical reviews of vendor/contractor work and engineering deliverables Collaborate with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, and external vendors Participate in technical presentations, standards development, and engineering initiatives Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Experience in relay protection and/or control systems engineering
Knowledge of:
Transmission, sub-transmission, or distribution protection systems Microprocessor relays Fault study analysis tools such as PSS/E CAPE or Aspen Relay settings, coordination, and protection schemes Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) Preferred Experience
IEC61850
Protection system modernization initiatives Utility/substation experience Industry involvement with organizations such as EPRI or NATF Experience writing engineering standards and specifications Open Levels Engineer 3+ years of relay protection / control systems experience
Salary Range:
$115K•$140K Senior Engineer 6+ years of relay protection / control systems experience Leadership and mentoring experience preferred
