Job Description

Substation Engineer III Location:
Hybrid role based in Central Texas with periodic travel between two office sites.

Position OverviewResponsible for the design and construction of complex electrical power systems and analysis of protection systems to support organizational initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and review substation designs, technical drawings, and specifications to meet standards and client requirements.

Utilize engineering software (e.g., Auto
CAD, ASPEN
) for design and analysis tasks.

Prepare technical specifications, perform calculations, and establish construction standards.

Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure project compliance and timely delivery.

Oversee design and construction of large-scale substation projects, including material procurement and approval of major equipment.

Conduct fault studies, relay settings, and ensure adherence to industry codes and standards.

Provide construction support, inspections, and resolve technical issues during project execution.

Stay current with technological advancements and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Skills & KnowledgeProficiency in substation design and construction principles.

Familiarity with
NERC PRC
standards and power system materials.

Strong ability to read and interpret schematics and design drawings.

Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Competence in time management and prioritizing multiple projects.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

Professional Engineer license or 8 years of relevant experience (6 years with a postgraduate degree).Valid driver's license required.
