JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood has an exciting opportunity for a Power Systems Electrical Engineer role. This opportunity is hybrid and can be based in Tucker, GA, Greenville, SC, or the Charlotte, NC area. Wood Projects - Technical & Assurance team is looking for a strong technical Engineering Professional with expertise in power system analysis and electrical system design. Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required. No agencies please.RESPONSIBILITIES
Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems, calculations, study reports, and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks Able to perform field investigations, site surveys, while interfacing with client representatives Quality control of all deliverables within the scope of Electrical Interface with Project Management and Client and liaise with other project disciplines Develop select engineering deliverables including philosophies, reports, specifications, calculations, data sheets, and technical requisitions Perform and lead power system studies including Load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, protective device coordination, harmonic analysis, and reliability assessments. Assist in preparation of power system cost estimates and defining scopes of work for project design and study proposals Ensure work complies with industry codes and standards, includingIEEE, NFPA
70/70E, ANSI, NEMA, and applicable local regulations Work with electrical engineers and designers to provide electrical design and deliverables to a variety of projectsQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university Registered Professional Engineer in one or multiple states preferred 8 plus years of relevant experience in Chemical, Forest Industries, Pharma/Life Sciences, or Power Generation projects Perform Electrical Design duties associated with project scope of work Demonstrated expertise with ETAP, SKM, EASYPOWER or other power system analysis software Demonstrated expertise with PSCAD and PSS®E software preferred Experience with third party protection settings software (i.e. GE Multilin, SEL AcSelerator software, etc.) Experience withSEL RTAC
platform preferred Strong understanding with applicable North American & Canadian codes, standards and recommended practices Excellent communication, organizational, and technical writing skills Strong ethical standards. High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative.
