Job Description
Field SCADA Engineer - Role SummaryThe Field SCADA Engineer focuses on the deployment, commissioning, and validation of Ignition SCADA systems in mission-critical environments such as data centers (BMS/EPMS systems). This is a hands-on, field-based, and client-facing role, requiring 50-60% travel to support onsite and remote project activities.
Unlike development-focused positions, this role ensures engineered SCADA solutions are correctly implemented, tested, and fully operational in live production environments.
Key Responsibilities1. Field Deployment & CommissioningDeploy and commission Ignition SCADA systems, particularly Perspective projects, at client sitesPerform point-to-point verification of:
GraphicsData pointsAlarmsControl sequencesConduct onsite testing and validation of HMIs and visualization systemsSupport integration, functional testing, and performance validation during commissioning2. System Validation & Quality AssurancePerform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to confirm systems meet client and operational requirements
Field commissioning and validationPoint-to-point verification
PLCs and industrial communication protocolsData integration and visualization systemsProven ability to:
Troubleshoot live system issuesWork independently onsiteEngage with clients effectivelyHigh attention to detail and structured testing approachWillingness to travel extensively (50-60%)Preferred QualificationsDegree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldExperience with data center or mission-critical facilities
Remote support toolsCommissioning processes in large-scale construction projectsUAT and QA methodologies Core FocusThe role emphasizes:
Precision execution in the fieldEnsuring SCADA systems perform reliably in productionDelivering high-performance, scalable, and validated solutionsActing as the bridge between engineering design and real-world operation

Alarm systemsTrends and real-time data displaysCross-platform functionality (desktop, tablet, mobile)Troubleshoot UI issues, display errors, and data connectivity problems in live environments3. Client Support & System TurnoverDeliver client demonstrations and hands-on training during system handoverSupport clients during go-live and acceptance phasesProvide technical support and troubleshooting before and after deploymentCoordinate with development teams to resolve field issues4.Documentation & Knowledge TransferDocument:
Commissioning activitiesPoint verification resultsSystem configurationsCreate and manage punch lists and track issue resolutionMaintain as-built records and field modificationsProvide feedback to improve system design and user experienceRequired Qualifications3+ years of Ignition SCADA experience, especially Ignition PerspectiveStrong background in:Field commissioning and validationPoint-to-point verification
