Job Description

Position -
UPS Field Engineer Job Requirements:
CORE SKILLS
Responsible for the timely maintenance and repairs of all critical power equipment to ensure full operability 24/7 ultimately increasing profit for the organization. This would include electronic systems and their associated controls. Typical systems include, but are not limited to UPS systems, battery systems, static and external transfer switches, Power Distribution Units - Mixed Vendor. Must be adept at troubleshooting UPS systems in multi-vendor environment. Daily travel with independent and autonomous work structure. Emergency call availability excluding PTO or off call. Battery repair and replacement to include installations and replacement. Adept with the use of electronic and electrical test devices and equipment to include digital multi-meter, power analyzer, infrared camera, digital camera, EMI/EMF meters and battery test equipment (Midtronics), oscilloscope. Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition. Complete all paperwork to include field service reports, time sheets and expense reports. Provide technical support to customers upon request. Must be able to discuss with technical support, problems related to maintenance or operation of equipment. Perform scheduling training with customers and service field engineers. Must be a competent participant in MOP (Method of Procedure) and SOW (Scope of Work) development.
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum AA degree in electrical or electronic engineering from an accredited trade school, college or university or equivalent training from the military. Minimum of 2-3 years of on the job experience. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical instructions, blueprints and schematic diagrams. Strong working knowledge of NEC. Proficiency at using a laptop computer, various software packages and other electronic communication devices. Proficient and articulate writing and verbal communication skills in addition to computer skills.
CORE ABILITIES
Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
