We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to support new product development, continuous improvements initiatives, and cross-functional engineering efforts. This role works closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams. This is a full-time, permanent, and on-site position with growth potential for individuals who demonstrate initiative, technical capability, and consistent delivery. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Device Design & Engineering Problem-Solving:
Research, design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical devices. Translate user needs into system designs and specifications. Apply both fundamental and advanced engineering principles to solve complex challenges. Practical Technical Knowledge:
Conduct hands-on prototyping, bench testing, and troubleshooting to validate and optimize designs. Resolve technical and production issues to maintain manufacturing output. Clinical and Customer Insight:
Demonstrate understanding of customer needs, product use, and clinical procedures to make informed design decisions. Regulatory Compliance:
Perform development activities in alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality processes. Engineering Documentation and Design Controls:
Independently create and maintain engineering documentation, i.e., Design History Files, while adhering to internal design controls, risk management, documents controls, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work effectively with Management, Quality, Production, Regulatory, and Marketing departments to deliver high-quality results and ensure seamless execution and product success. Independent Task Execution:
Effectively manage priorities, deliverables, and timelines with minimal supervision. Technical Leadership and Team Support:
Provide support to other engineers and contributors within assigned projects. Lead process improvements, prototype development and technical initiatives while inspiring cross-functional collaboration. Research and Continued Learning:
Perform research and critical reading to expand knowledge base in support of Engineering, Quality, and Production functions. Technical Writing:
Draft and prepare clear, accurate engineering reports, documentation, test protocols and related technical materials. Effective Communication:
Communicate effectively and promptly with other departments, suppliers, and vendors and needed. QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, from an accredited 4-year college/university. 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience. Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred). Preferred Qualifications include:
Experience with design controls, risk management, development processes in a regulated industry. Experience leading product development activities from concept through market release. Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards i.e., 21 CFR 800-1299, ISO 13485. Familiarity with electronic Quality Management Systems. 2+ years of relevant engineering experience. Experience with circuit design, electrical components, and wiring. Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, Experience:
Experience with MTE (Measurement and Test Equipment) i.e., calipers, micrometer, multi-meter, gauge pins, etc. Competency with and safe handling of hand tools i.e., drills, rotary tools, soldering irons, etc. Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment i.e., CNC lathe, CNC mill, drill press, etc. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions with strong attention to detail. Experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and 3D models. Effective communication with technical information and data. Reliable and focused contributor willing to work outside routine responsibilities as needed. Physical Demands Duties of the position are performed in manufacturing and office environments with frequent exposure to operating machinery, noise, and dust. Periodic light physical effort and exertion including repetitive motions, using tools and equipment in tight space and handling/moving products. Periodic lifting may require lifting, pulling, pushing and moving objects over 30lbs unassisted. Disclaimer:
