About the Company Zap Surgical Systems is a surgical robotics start-up located in San Carlos, CA. ZAP designs and manufactures the ZAP-X® Gyroscopic Radiosurgery™ platform, the world's first and only vault-free, cobalt-free radiosurgery system. Leveraging first-in-kind gyroscopic mobility, the ZAP-X precisely directs radiation beams from hundreds of unique positions to non-invasively destroy brain tumors.

a highly effective, painless, and non-invasive alternative to surgery. With increased demand for our product, we are looking for an experienced NPI Sustaining Engineer to join our Team. About the Opportunity You will lead product introduction and manufacturing support for our next?generation capital medical equipment. If you excel at bringing complex electromechanical products into production - and keeping them running reliably in the field - this role gives you ownership, visibility, and impact! Primary Responsibilities Leading and coordinating cross?functional tasks and resolving issues quickly. Develop and optimize assembly processes , work instructions, tooling, and fixtures. Drive process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and test method development for system?level functional testing. Manage design transfer , including DHF?to?

DMR updates, BOM release, and ECO/change control. Support supplier qualification and FAIs; partner with suppliers to resolve technical issues. Lead root cause analysis for manufacturing and field issues using 5?Why, Ishikawa, DOE, FMEA, and statistical tools. Collaborate with R D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Service to ensure smooth launches and sustained product performance. Primary Requirements BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering. 4+ years in NPI or sustaining engineering for capital equipment or complex electromechanical systems. Strong background in DFM/DFA , process development, and validation. Hands?on experience with CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis , and engineering documentation. Nice to Have Experience with automated test systems and calibration methods. Supplier readiness and component lifecycle management experience.
