Job Description

How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities) This Engineer position operates within the Delta TechOps'Repair Engineering Organization. Thisposition provides technical leadership for turbofan engine MRO (Maintenance,Repair, Overhaul) activities in one or more areas; Repair Development, NewProduct Introduction, Process Engineering, or Engine Production ShopSupport. Regardless of the area,successful applicants for this position will need to translate initiatives intoactions and use intra-departmental goals to prioritize work with limitedguidance.
Responsibilities Include:
+ Work directly with engine maintenance, engineering teammembers, and engineering management to develop repair and process solutions forturbofan engine components + Evaluate damage conditions on turbofan engine componentsto develop and substantiate repairs and implement processimprovements/solutions + Define scope of work for development projects, includingequipment, tooling, and labor requirements + Establish and maintain schedules that achieve definedobjectives, including the breakdown of tasks and associated resources fromconceptualization through industrialization + Work directly with OEMs to secure Source-Repair approvalsfor Delta TechOps + Collaborate with Delta's SMEs and ODA to developsubstantiation and regulatory compliance plans + Perform testing, calculations and industrialization ofrepair design + Organize and/or prepare all relevant reports, drawings,and engineering authorizations for assigned projects + Assist in the formulation of business case justificationsand bids to bring to MRO work into Delta TechOps + Provide mentorship and actively support the professionaldevelopment of less experienced engineers What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) + Must have a Bachelor'sdegree in Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or Materials ScienceEngineering + Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience + Project management experience + Strong relationshipmanagement skills + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Multi-tasking abilities + Be able to demonstrate proven results-orientation + Strong analytical,organizational and time management skills required + Strongtechnical background (especially in the repair space / aftermarket) + Keyengineering fields desired: mechanical, aerospace and material science + Experience in new-makedesign as well as engineering experience from other fields + Must display a proven record with continuously increasing level of responsibility + Strong leadership attributes, with the ability toinfluence and gain support via mutual respect + Ability to manage and communicate with stakeholdersat all levels as well as develop business plans to support + Basic Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point) + Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self,others, and personal data. + Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. + Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high schoolequivalency. + Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to workin the United States. What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications) + An advanced degree )Master's / MBA / Ph. D.) in Mechanical orAerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering from anaccredited institution with 5+ years of relevant experience. + 2 years industry experience credited for a Master'sdegree, in the listed disciplines. + 3 years industry experience credited for a PHD in thelisted disciplines. + Previous Airline, OEM or MRO experience with commercialaircraft engines. + Experience with the repair or design of gas turbine orturbofan engine components and repair concepts typically used inrepair/manufacturing (e.g. machining, thermal spray, welding, heat treatment,brazing, plating, peening). + Familiarity with airline flight operations and supportsystems, 14 CFR 121 and 14 CFR 145 repair station regulations. + Six Sigma (GB/BB), Lean Manufacturing, or PMPCertification •
