About this role The New Product Development Engineer (Systems Engineer) will support the design, development, and validation of residential HVAC systems. This role is responsible for applying engineering principles across thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and system architecture to deliver high-quality, reliable products. The individual will work cross-functionally with design teams, lab technicians, and manufacturing partners to support product development from concept through testing and production. This position is based onsite in Indianapolis, IN and requires strong technical expertise , collaboration skills, and a self-starter mindset. Key Responsibilities Develop and design residential HVAC systems and subsystems, including thermodynamic and electro-mechanical components Evaluate and qualify HVAC components in accordance with reliability and performance standards Develop and validate thermal models to support system performance and design decisions Collaborate with lab technicians to build prototypes and support system testing (performance, reliability, and regulatory) Troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues and drive root-cause analysis and resolution Partner with design and engineering teams to translate requirements into components, subsystems, and finished products Support system-level analysis across the product lifecycle (design, testing, manufacturing, and operation) Evaluate systems for manufacturability, reliability, and continuous improvement opportunities Contribute to multiple projects, owning small projects or key technical deliverables Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3+ years of engineering experience, OR Master's degree in Engineering Preferred Qualifications Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics Knowledge of HVAC system architecture, controls, and electro-mechanical systems Experience with engineering problem-solving, troubleshooting, and data analysis Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced product development environment Strong communication , organizational, and analytical skills Experience in HVAC systems or related thermal/mechanical product development Knowledge of reliability engineering principles and testing methodologies Experience with system modeling tools (MATLAB, Modelica , Python) Familiarity with design of experiments (DOE) and data analysis techniques Experience working with lab environments, prototype builds, and validation testing Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently Additional Information This position is 100% onsite in Indianapolis, IN Standard work hours are typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with some flexibility Travel is minimal (
