Senior Product Development Engineer - Manufacturing Woburn, MA Permanent In this highly visible role within the Engineering department, the selected candidate will be responsible for a broad range of product design, development, and manufacturing engineering activities.Key responsibilities include:
Leading conceptual design and development of new products, ensuring alignment with customer and industry specifications. Reviewing and approving engineering drawing packages, including analysis against customer requirements, manufacturing feasibility, GD&T standards, and cost considerations. Creating and maintaining comprehensive, high-quality technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle. Serving as the Product Support Engineer, providing ongoing technical support from product introduction through end-of-life. Developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, including tooling design, process routing, and work instructions. Leading the design and development of fixtures for machining, brazing, welding, testing, and related operations. Collaborating with subject matter experts in machining, brazing, heat treatment, and welding to implement efficient, cost-effective processes that meet quality and customer requirements. Ensuring timely product delivery through effective documentation release and hands-on factory floor support. Driving cost control initiatives by implementing efficient manufacturing methods and tooling solutions. Analyzing inspection and test data, including CMM reports, to ensure product compliance and quality standards. Managing engineering change processes, including ECNs, DMRs, and MRB activities. Leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions for process failures. Supporting new product quotations through detailed cost estimation. Participating in and leading cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Researching and implementing innovative workflows, methods, and equipment to enhance operational efficiency. Contributing to cross-functional project teams and participating in R D initiatives. Mentoring junior engineers and designers to support team development and knowledge sharing.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with direct involvement in new product introduction (NPI), product design, and manufacturing processes. Hands-on experience in machining, tooling, brazing, and/or GTAW welded assemblies.Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in SolidWorks and MRP systems (e.g., Oracle). Experience with MRB processes and familiarity with military and aerospace standards. Knowledge ofASME Y14.100, ASME
Y14.5, and AS9100 standards. Six Sigma certification or experience with continuous improvement methodologies.Similar remote jobs
