Job Description

What's the job? The Advanced Process Development Engineer, reporting to the Principal Advanced Process Development Engineer, supports R D efforts at Saint-Gobain Research North America. The role exists to develop, implement, and industrialize advanced processes, including digital asset creation, design-for-manufacturing workflows, and emerging manufacturing technologies
  • to enable new product introduction and enhancement across the building materials portfolio.
Working cross-functionally with R D, product design, manufacturing, business teams, suppliers, and external partners, the Advanced Process Development Engineer contributes technical expertise, drives process development activities, and supports the transfer of validated technologies into production environments. The role requires hands on experimentation, data driven decision making, project collaboration, and consistent delivery against technical, time-bound, and quality objectives. What do you bring?
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering/Digital Technology with a manufacturing focus, or a related engineering field with experience in manufacturing technologies
Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of experience: o Demonstrated technical judgment and accomplishments. o Experience in project leadership and cross-functional collaboration. o Ability to apply statistical tools, conduct data analysis, and draw conclusions from experimental or production data.
Knowledge & Technical Skills:
Required:
Strong technical innovation and problem solving abilities. Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and recommend solutions. Ability to research, understand, and implement new technologies in materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Effective teamwork and project collaboration skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to R D teams and project stakeholders. Ability to liaise effectively across internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and development partners. Capability to identify and manage technical and project risks. Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of production technologies and trends. Leadership skills to set expectations and provide oversight on technical project components.
Preferred:
Experience with CAD/CAM software. Experience with Python scripting. Experience with industrial controls and computer vision systems. Knowledge of construction materials and building science.
Interpersonal & Soft Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate across diverse technical and non-technical teams. Ability to set, manage, and align expectations with managers, R D colleagues, and project stakeholders. Effective presentation skills to convey technical information clearly and concisely. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to coordinate with external contractors and development partners.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally (e.g., moving lab materials or luggage during business travel). Occasional climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, and walking as part of lab or pilot-scale work. Frequent sitting and manual dexterity for computer and equipment use; frequent talking and hearing for collaborative and technical communication.

Valid driver's license (Required): Business travel will require use of rental vehicles.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $81,500 to $126,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
  • In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus.
The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $89,650-to $139,150.
