The Supplier Development Engineer supports new product/process development and manufacturing through the application of quality and engineering techniques. This person will handle multiple projects and tasks throughout product development, product launch and manufacturing processes. The Supplier Development Engineer will represent the organization and interface with the supplier on a regular basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned Identifies, assesses, and develops new suppliers for the organization. Reviews Supplier Self Assessments from potential suppliers and collaborates with Purchasing. Participates in the supplier sourcing process giving input on supplier production, quality, and technology capabilities. Drives the Supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process. Works closely with the Program Management and Purchasing teams. Serves as a liaison between the Supplier and the American Rheinmetall manufacturing facilities on new program launches. Conducts Supplier Risk Assessments and updates contingency plans. Works with suppliers on complex problems and identifies solutions at supplier facilities. Conducts quality system audits at potential and existing supplier facilities. Conducts capacity analyses at supplier facilities. Reports out on activities to leadership on a regular basis. Travel to supplier locations is required (50%). Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual will need to perform the following competencies. Adherence to PolicyFollow quality environmental policies and have knowledge of AS9100 and IS14001. Adherence to SafetyFollow safety procedures, security protocol, and wear proper PPE. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
