Applicants should possess an Associate degree in Mechanical/Electrical Design or Engineering Technology with 3-5 years of experience. Advanced skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD are required, along with a sound understanding of mobile electrification systems. Strong communication abilities for collaboration with customers and sales, familiarity with regulatory codes, and problem-solving skills for custom designs and ECOs are also essential. We are looking for an Engineer Product Development to deliver expert product application support and customized design solutions for our engineering and sales teams. This position focuses on transforming customer requirements into feasible and manufacturable designs while providing guidance on product specifications, capabilities, and implementation. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and review customer design specifications in coordination with sales teams to match product capabilities with project demands. Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD/Draftsight to create detailed component drawings, layouts, schematics, and proposals. Analyze equipment and performance specifications to develop designs suited for existing manufacturing methods and facilities. Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), provide support for corrective actions, and address design-related issues. Participate in design review meetings with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams for customized solutions. Offer direct engineering support to the production floor and assist with on-site inspections and commissioning activities. Interpret industry standards and regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, and NFPA. Locate and modify existing design files as necessary and contribute to continuous improvements by addressing recurring issues. Develop in-depth expertise in designated product lines over time, supporting test requests and analyzing results. Qualifications Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or Engineering Technology, coupled with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience. Proficient in AutoCAD (2018 or later) and SolidWorks. Sound understanding of mobile electrification systems in industrial and commercial settings. Effective communication skills to articulate and discuss technical requirements with internal teams and clients. Physical Demands & Work Environment This role primarily involves office work with regular computer usage, sitting, and occasional activities like walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently is required, along with close vision capabilities. The work environment is typically quiet, though visits to production or test areas may necessitate PPE such as safety glasses and steel-toe shoes. While this position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities, it provides technical guidance and leadership to designer-level colleagues.
