Job Description
DiaCom Corporation is an industry leader in producing and distributing world-wide one of the broadest lines of standard and custom industrial diaphragms. These products are widely used in the automotive, pneumatics, aerospace, food and water processing, medical instrument and other industries where high-performance, fabric-reinforced and homogeneous elastomeric seals are critical to the operation of essential systems and equipment. We have an immediate opening for a hands-on Product Engineer with a BS Degree and minimum 5 years experience, preferably in the rubber or plastics industry.

Responsibilities :
1.Product Engineering Support:
Ensure projects and support efforts are conducted and completed in a timely manner to support departmental goals and objectives, such as: o Product design support to DiaCom customers, including direct interface with customers. Assist in the customer interaction regarding product development issues, such as material selection, design recommendations, diaphragm performance expectations, etc. o Provide support to the product development process by participating in the tooling meetings, monitoring and assisting in developing production processes and coordinating implementation of systems to ensure new customer requirements are met. o Failure analysis; Engineering Reports and/or Corrective Action Reports to support product improvement activity. o Conduct cost reduction projects. o Ensure internal documentation is updated to reflect engineering improvements developed. o Complete CAD drawings of diaphragms and/or tools. 2.Manufacturing Engineering Support:
o Hands-on work on the production floor with a focus on scrap reduction, productivity enhancement, cost reductions and problem solving. This activity may include running the production equipment as required. o Ongoing, on the floor problem solving, new program start-ups and re-engineering poorly performing programs. o Assist in the management of customer interactions regarding quality issues, including the analysis of customer returns. Coordinate the timely completion of root-cause analyses and corrective action activity, including reporting to customers. o Tool, fixture, jig construction, design and troubleshooting as needed 3.Cost Estimating:
Support the sales and marketing effort by the timely completion of cost estimates as directed; including: o Print and part design analysis, recommendations for manufacturability and/or performance. o Selection of appropriate elastomers, fabrics etc…for manufacturability as well as customer performance in application. o Selection of process, tooling, and integration for optimum manufacturability and performance to customer application. o Detailed cost analysis of new potential parts for DiaCom, from which pricing can be developed and presented in competitive marketplace, allowing for DiaCom to land profitable business. o Review of and analysis of existing programs from cost/price perspective. Develop solutions for non-profitable programs and ongoing cost analysis and thus price recommendations of existing programs. 4.Special Projects:
o Organize and execute special projects as assigned. Project aims may include cost reduction, process improvement, quality improvement, corrective action, etc.Job Requirements:
1. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, capable of communicating effectively and motivating personnel at all levels of the organization. 2. Good problem-solving skills. Knowledgeable in problem solving methodology and reporting, such as 8d. 3. Strong analytical skills. Proficient computer skills, specifically spreadsheets. 4. Must be capable of working on multiple projects, ensuring progress on all projects in support of department and company objectives and still be flexible in meeting the daily demands of the different departments in the organization. 5. Able to represent Diacom to our customers, providing a professional image in all situations. 6. Detail oriented, providing timely follow through on daily activities and project deadlines. 7. CAD experience. SolidEdge a plus.Experience/Education Requirements:
1. A well-rounded engineering background with experience in both product design and general manufacturing. 2. Familiar with the ISO/AS9100 and similar Quality standards. 3. A college degree in a technical/engineering discipline and several years of experience is preferred. An individual with 10+ years of increasing responsibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment will be considered. 4. Experience in rubber, plastics or material conversion industry is required.
