Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and demonstrate proficiency in designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems. This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively on innovative projects. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing schematics, conducting root cause analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Duties Design and Development:
Assist in designing and developing battery packs and mechanical systems, ensuring compatibility with other components and new system requirements.
CAD Modeling and Drafting:
Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for battery pack components and integrated systems using CAD software.
Testing and Validation:
Perform testing and analysis to ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of battery packs and associated systems.
Technical Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive project records, including design specifications, testing procedures, and validation reports for battery systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of battery packs with other mechanical and electrical components.
Problem Identification and Resolution:
Address technical challenges related to battery systems, proposing innovative and effective solutions to improve designs.
Vendor Coordination:
Collaborate with external vendors to design battery packs, focusing on structural integrity, thermal management, sealing, and compliance with high-quality standards.
Technology Research:
Explore emerging technologies to enhance the design and efficiency of battery systems and support innovation in new system development.
Innovative Contributions:
Demonstrate creativity and initiative to drive the development of advanced battery systems and supporting components.
Issue Resolution:
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to battery packs and integrated systems promptly and effectively.
Additional Responsibilities:
Take on other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support project goals. Experience Must have a bachelor's in mechanical engineering or a STEM-related field or related technical field + 5 years' experience. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and a proactive mindset. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials is a plus. Preferred Skills Working knowledge of hand and power tools Experience designing battery packs or energy storage systems, including structural, thermal, and sealing considerations. Familiarity with lithium-ion battery technologies, battery management systems (BMS), and relevant safety standards (e.g., UL, IEC). Hands-on experience with prototyping, test setup, and validation in a lab or production environment. Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and high-volume production processes. Experience working with sheet metal, plastics, and injection-molded components. Understanding of thermal management solutions such as passive and active cooling systems. Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools to validate mechanical designs. Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering change processes. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines effectively.
