Hybrid - Rockmart, GA and remote (schedule varies by workload) Support the Product Development Department in the execution of new product development and product improvement initiatives for industrial steam boilers and related equipment. Perform engineering analysis, documentation, testing support, and cross‑functional coordination to advance projects through Miura's product development process. Ensure assigned designs and engineering outputs meet performance, manufacturability, and applicable code and compliance requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and global partners to resolve technical challenges, improve product designs, and support continuous improvement of engineering practices. Contribute to new product development, cost‑down initiatives, and research‑driven engineering tasks, including thermal/fluid analysis, design iteration, and controls‑adjacent development, with a balance of hands‑on execution and independent work within established project frameworks.Key Responsibilities:
Execute assigned product development and product improvement workstreams, delivering high‑quality engineering outputs that support timely project execution in accordance with the Miura New Product Development process. Perform essential engineering functions including technical analysis, calculations, evaluation of design alternatives, and documentation in support of product development activities. Support prototype build activities, factory/shop testing, troubleshooting, and test-result evaluation; implement design updates based on findings. Develop and maintain engineering deliverables including drawings/model updates, specifications, calculation files, BOM inputs, and technical documentation needed for design release and production preparation. Support design-for-manufacturing and cost-down efforts through component substitution evaluation, value engineering concepts, and practical design improvements. Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and compliance expectations (ASME/UL and similar as applicable). Support controls-adjacent development activities as needed, including integration of sensors/actuators, electrical interface requirements, and coordination with controls-focused engineers or external partners. Execute research-oriented engineering tasks (as assigned) such as thermal/fluid calculations, tool-assisted analysis (e.g., CFD where applicable), and benchmarking of methods used by Miura Japan; document conclusions and recommendations. Collaborate with Design Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, and Procurement to ensure designs are clear, buildable, and supportable; communicate technical risks and constraints early. Interface and collaborate with internal, external, domestic, and international partners including Miura Japan as needed to complete assigned technical tasks. Position Requirements (knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position): Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 3+ years of experience in product development, project engineering, or industrial equipment engineering (thermal systems preferred). Experience working with industrial machinery or thermal systems, including exposure to steel construction, piping/ducting, pumps/fans, combustion‑adjacent systems, and/or electrical or controls interfaces. Ability to perform engineering calculations and technical analysis using hand calculations, spreadsheets, and modern engineering tools. Proficiency with 3D CAD and common office software, with the ability to interpret and contribute to engineering drawings and documentation packages. Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage assigned tasks, track progress against schedules, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams. Proficiency with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, for mechanical design, modeling, and drawing development. Experience supporting testing, validation, and transition‑to‑production activities. Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD, thermal/fluid modeling, or comparable calculation workflows). Working knowledge of ASME, UL, or related industrial compliance frameworks (experience can be partial; training acceptable). Controls exposure (PLC or industrial controls fundamentals, sensors/actuators, burner or boiler controls concepts, or similar). Recommended Certifications /Licenses:
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Training or coursework related to project management (e.g., fundamentals of project management, scheduling, or similar). Training or coursework related to industrial controls, automation, or instrumentation.
