Product Engineer Job Description The Product Engineer supports customer products throughout the full development lifecycle, with a strong focus on product data management, prototype builds, component support, and smooth transition to manufacturing. This hands-on, detail-oriented role collaborates closely with internal teams and occasionally with customers to ensure that products move efficiently from design through production while meeting all technical and documentation requirements. Responsibilities Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer Bills of Material (BOMs), prototype trackers, and supporting technical documentation. Build and test prototype units using basic hand tools and written work instructions. Plan, organize, and track materials using manual inventory systems such as spreadsheets. Support component replacement activities when parts reach end-of-life or become unavailable, ensuring continuity of supply. Execute defined test plans to verify that products meet customer requirements and performance specifications. Interface with manufacturing teams to support a smooth transition of products into production. Participate in internal and occasional customer-facing meetings to review project status and technical details. Communicate risks, issues, and potential impacts proactively to relevant stakeholders. Contribute to new product development efforts by supporting engineering activities and documentation. Support technical documentation creation and maintenance for medical device products and related components. Essential Skills Experience with new product development processes and activities. Ability to create, maintain, and interpret Bills of Material (BOMs). Strong skills in managing and maintaining technical documentation. Experience working with or supporting medical device products. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally with clients. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to documentation accuracy. Basic computer skills, including use of Google and/or Microsoft productivity tools. Basic experience using hand tools for building and testing prototypes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Completed Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Experience working with prototype builds in an R D or lab environment. Familiarity with manual inventory tracking systems such as spreadsheets. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and engineering. Comfort participating in customer-facing discussions regarding technical requirements and product status. Work Environment This is an on-site role with some potential for a hybrid work arrangement, depending on business needs. The position requires regular travel between an R D Center and a Prototyping Lab located approximately 10 miles apart. You will work in a hands-on lab and development environment, using basic hand tools, computers, and standard office and engineering software. The role involves close collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams in a professional, technology-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Neenah, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
