Phased Array RF Design Engineer Aerospace & Defense - Space Systems Melbourne, FL $140,000-$240,000 A leading aerospace and defense organization within the Space Systems sector is seeking an experienced Phased Array RF Design Engineer to support advanced space missions and next-generation RF technologies. This role requires deep expertise in phased array systems, RF hardware design, integration, testing, and technical leadership throughout the program lifecycle. The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in RF and phased array technologies, supporting research and development initiatives, customer pursuits, technical proposals, and system development activities. This individual will collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative, mission-critical solutions for complex aerospace and defense applications. Essential Responsibilities Lead advanced RF and phased array development efforts including research, design, analysis, and validation of space-qualified systems. Support full program lifecycle activities including technical baselines, proposals, system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and program startups. Conduct technical trade studies and drive internal R&D initiatives. Develop RF technology roadmaps focused on improving performance while reducing SWaP-C (size, weight, power, and cost). Support business development and customer technical engagements. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, program leadership, and customers. Mentor and guide engineering teams on RF system development and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related STEM field. 15+ years of relevant RF engineering experience. Experience with digital and analog phased array systems including AESA and ESA technologies. Strong background in RF link budgets, cascade analysis, filtering, signal analysis, matching networks, nonlinear effects, and RF isolation. Experience with RF components including amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, filters, couplers, PLLs, phase shifters, and attenuators. Experience across RF frequency bands including VHF, UHF, L, S, C, X, Ku, Ka, and V bands. Proficiency with RF simulation and analysis tools such as ADS, HFSS, MATLAB, SystemVue, and ECAD platforms. Prior engineering leadership experience preferred. Preferred Experience Active or previous TS/SCI clearance. Experience with
MMIC/RFIC
design. RF module and multi-chip module integration experience. Hands-on RF lab testing and troubleshooting expertise. PCB schematic/layout experience using Cadence or Xpedition. Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or space-based systems. MATLAB or Python programming experience for RF analysis and automation.
