The department specializes in supporting the Army's efforts to design, deliver, and sustain cutting-edge technologies that enhance multi-domain intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. Key focus areas include Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), intelligence targeting systems, ISR sensors, assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), electromagnetic situational awareness, and non-kinetic effects to enable operational freedom and achieve overmatch.

Job Responsibilities
  • Strengthen the Aberdeen Lab's RF test and evaluation capabilities that support both tactical communications and
SIGINT/EW
mission areas. The intern would begin by collecting, inventorying, and documenting all RF-related lab equipment (e.g., SDRs, signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, power meters, attenuators/couplers, antennas, cabling, and test fixtures), capturing key details such as frequency coverage, dynamic range, connectivity, firmware/software versions, and current configuration
  • Perform basic calibration checks and functional verification (using available standards/procedures w applicable), identify gaps or out-of-tolerance items, and recommend repair, replacement, or upgrade actions to improve readiness and repeatability for future testing
  • Develop practical "how-to" guides and short demonstrations so other MITRE engineers can quickly employ the equipment for representative SIGINT/EW and tactical communications test scenarios.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship
  • Foundational understanding of RF and communications concepts (e.g., frequency, bandwidth, modulation, signal-to-noise
  • Sustained excellence in academic performancePreferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with common RF lab equipment (such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, or SDRs) through coursework or labs
  • Hands-on experience with SDR platforms and tools (e.g., USRP, GNU Radio, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar
  • Basic programming or scripting skills (e.
