Job Summary As a Senior Cellular Protocol Engineer at Telit Cinterion, you will play a key role in the development and enhancement of cellular modem features across 4G, 5G, and future wireless technologies. Reporting to the Software Team Manager, you will be responsible for cellular protocol stack analysis, feature implementation, and advanced issue debugging across a wide range of cellular network scenarios. You will also provide technical support for certification activities, including 3GPP conformance testing and carrier IoT certifications, ensuring compliance with operator and industry requirements. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including RF, platform software, and external solution partners, to deliver highly stable and high-performance wireless modem solutions. This position offers strong opportunities for technical growth and leadership in cutting-edge wireless communication standards, operator certification processes, and next-generation cellular technologies. Objectives & Responsibilities Develop, and maintain protocol-level APIs to enable mobile network connectivity and feature support in alignment with solution provider architectures Implement specific features related to mobile broadband and customize modem behaviors based on 3GPP standards and Chipset vendor. Analyze interoperability issues between our modules and mobile networks using protocol logs and standards-based knowledge; coordinate with solution providers and customer support teams to resolve them. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage project requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Ensure protocol software quality through log analysis, debugging, and performance tuning. Review and interpret network operator requirements to ensure compliance with certification standards. Coordinate testing scope and schedules with third-party labs and network operators. Analyze UE and TE logs to identify root causes of failed test cases; communicate findings with test labs, operators, and chipset vendors to drive resolution. Review test results and maintain communication with test labs and operators throughout the certification process. Finalize and validate certification reports and documentation upon completion of testing.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Wireless Communication Technology.
Experience:
Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in cellular protocol development, and debugging (e.g., LTE, NR/5G). Proven track record in C/C++ programming for embedded systems or modem software.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of 3GPP specifications and cellular stack layers (L1/L2/L3). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in cellular network environment. Experience with protocol log analysis tools (e.g., QXDM, Wireshark, etc.) is a plus. Ability to travel internationally without restrictions Preferred Qualifications Experience in working on cellular device certifications. Prior experience with QCT chipsets. Familiarity with RTOS, Embedded Linux, Yocto Linux, and OpenWRT.
