Silicon Laboratories Inc. seeks an Associate Staff RF Design Engineer in Austin, TX.POSITION DUTIES
Architecture of blocks or signal chain. Design and simulation of blocks like LNA/Mixers/filters/PLLs/ADC/DAC/power amplifiers. Exposure to the full cycle of design from inception to bench validation testing. Guide the layout engineer from floorplan through post-layout verification. Develop and define the architecture blocks or signal chains, ensuring performance, efficiency, and seamless integration with overall system requirements. Design and simulate key circuit components, including Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), Mixers, Filters, Phase-Locked Loops (PLLs), Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), and Power Amplifiers, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with industry standards. Exposure to the full cycle of design from inception to bench validation testing. Work closely with layout engineers to guide floorplan design, post-layout verification, and ensure alignment with design constraints and manufacturability requirements. Assist in bench validation testing, collaborate with test engineers to analyze performance data, and refine designs based on test results to meet industry and customer requirements. Telecommuting permitted. National and international travel required to unanticipated locations up to 20% of the time.POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related field (or its equivalent) plus 8 years' experience. Requires 8 years of experience in: Analog/RF circuit design techniques for high speed and low power design. Analog/RF IC design fundamentals including concepts in small signal analysis, large signal analysis, noise, distortion, and bandwidth. Industry standard IC Design and simulation tools including Cadence Virtuoso, and Matlab. Requires 5 years of experience in: Modern CMOS layout techniques. Working in a lab environment with RF instruments to perform post silicon test and debug. Writing technical documentation (reviews and spec sheets). National and international travel required to unanticipated locations up to 20% of the time.
