Position Overview Chartis Federal is seeking an experienced RF Engineer (SME) to serve as a technical lead supporting the design, integration, and optimization of advanced wireless communications systems. This role functions as a subject matter expert responsible for developing requirements from project inception through completion, guiding technical direction, and providing authoritative recommendations on system performance, modernization, and sustainment efforts. The RF Engineer SME will work closely with Government stakeholders, program leadership, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure mission-critical communications systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with operational requirements. Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the RF engineering subject matter expert across all phases of system lifecycle, from requirements development through implementation and sustainment Lead the design, integration, and modernization of wireless communication systems, including point-to-point, mesh, and mobile networks Develop and refine technical requirements, architectures, and system designs based on mission needs and operational constraints Provide technical leadership and guidance to project team members, supporting analysis, evaluation, and system improvement efforts Conduct and oversee system performance analysis, including link budgets, microwave path analysis, mobile coverage, and interference modeling Evaluate and recommend system enhancements, optimization strategies, and modernization approaches Support field testing, validation, and troubleshooting of wireless communication systems Design and evaluate power solutions, including solar and alternative energy systems supporting communications infrastructure Develop network transport and routing strategies and document designs through detailed network diagrams Prepare and present technical reports, white papers, and executive briefings to Government stakeholders Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and program teams to support procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management Requirements Education BS in Electrical Engineering or other BS degrees relevant to job responsibilities; Master's preferred DHS Tier 2 Background Investigation (BI) or DOD Secret with current investigation required to convert to DHS Tier 2 BI Minimum 8 years of relevant experience Experience developing technical requirements, system designs, and engineering recommendations Experience supporting system optimization, modernization, and lifecycle management efforts Ability to lead analysis and provide actionable technical recommendations for system improvements Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience delivering executive-level briefings Experience working with Government stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams Why Join Chartis Federal?
