Payload Engineer (RF) VTG Defense United States, Virginia, Chantilly 14291 Park Meadow Drive (Show on map) May 11, 2026
Overview VTG is seeking a Payload Engineer (RF) inChantilly, Va. What will you do? Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Overseeing design and development of RF payload systems and components including signal processing units
Applying complex RF specifications, tolerances, simulations, and test procedures for RF payload systems and components
Developing RF payload performance models to inform Government systems engineering trades
Providing oversight of acquisitions, with specific focus on the RF payload systems elements, functionality, interfaces, manufacture, build, test, and operations to ensure end-to-end system closure and satisfaction of mission need
Reviewing Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL)deliverables to ensure content, technical accuracy, and sufficiency of design details to meet program requirements and objectives
Oversee the build, test and delivery of the current design protection payload and assess compliance with statement of work and requirements
Provide technical review and advisory support on feasibility, development, acquisition, and operation ofinnovative technologiesfor future architectures, systems, capabilities, and performance
Define acquisition strategies and project plans, project life cycle plans, and associated schedules for the next generation payload and contribute to overall system effort
Identify, track, and resolve life cycle risks, issues, and opportunities for current and future build
Create integration, verification, validation, and test strategies and plans
Write technical performance measurement plans and conduct performance assessments. Develop Measures of Effectiveness, Measures of Performance, Key Performance Parameters, and Technical Performance Measures to help quantify project and mission success Do you have what it takes?
Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly. Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Math or related discipline with 9 years related experience or master's degree with 7 years related experience, or PhD with 4 years related experience Experience in RADAR system operations, waveform usage and processing Experience in RF systems design, specifications, development, manufacturing, and test Experience using systems engineering processes, methods, tools, and program roles to develop, implement, and deploy solutions for Satellite Systems 5 or more years of Spacecraft systems engineering experience with integration and test experience Basic knowledge in application of SEIT methods to satellite, launch, and ground systems Basic knowledge of acquisition and source selection policies and processes of USGSimilar remote jobs
