PIPELINE ENGINEER SUPERVISOR COMPANY OVERVIEW
We provide engineering, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and qualification services to a diverse range of natural gas operators. Our focus is delivering practical, high‐quality solutions across gathering, transmission, and distribution pipeline systems.
POSITION SUMMARY
Our Client is seeking a Pipeline Engineer Supervisor to lead a small but growing engineering team while contributing technically to pipeline design and analysis work. This role balances hands‐on engineering with team leadership, project oversight, and client engagement. The ideal candidate has strong experience in pipeline design and hydraulic modeling, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is comfortable interacting directly with clients on active projects. This position will play a key role in delivering high‐quality designs while mentoring junior engineers and helping scale the team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead pipeline engineering projects from concept through construction support Supervise and mentor a small team of engineers and designers Develop pipeline alignments, bore profiles, and utility coordination designs Collaborate with and support surveyors and survey teams Provide site development support to facility engineers Develop and file utility permit packages Perform hydraulic modeling for gas and/or liquid pipeline systems Interface directly with clients, supporting project delivery and relationship development Oversee project schedules, budgets, and deliverables Ensure design quality, consistency, and adherence to industry standards and regulations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and support direct reports, including mentoring, performance management, and technical development Prepare and review engineering designs including pipeline alignments, HDD designs, and utility conflict resolution Design site development plans, including grading, stormwater management, etc. Perform and review hydraulic modeling for pipeline systems (gas, water, or similar) Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D for design development and plan production Support development of cost estimates, bills of material, and project scopes Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes Participate in client meetings, including direct interaction with higher‐tier clients alongside senior leadership Ensure compliance with applicable standards, including working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192 Contribute to process improvements and internal standards development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 5-10
years of experience in pipeline engineering or related field Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET‐accredited program Professional Engineer (PE) license required Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Experience with hydraulic modeling software (gas, water, or similar systems) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience leading projects and providing technical oversight Strong communication skills and ability to interact directly with clients Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers/designers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in natural gas pipeline engineering (gathering, transmission, or distribution) Familiarity with GIS platforms and data integration Experience with HDD design and permitting processes Exposure to multi‐disciplinary projects (civil and mechanical coordination) Experience working with larger clients or complex infrastructure projects Proven ability to lead small teams in a fast‐paced, project‐driven environment
