This role is critical in delivering complete combustion solutions that meet performance, efficiency, emissions, and reliability requirements for customers in power generation, refining, petrochemical, and other heavy industries. The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering expertise with practical field experience and a customer-focused approach. Key Responsibilities
Quoting & Proposal Development:
Prepare accurate and competitive technical proposals, cost estimates, and commercial offers for new burner systems, retrofits, and upgrades. Collaborate with sales teams to develop optimized solutions that address customer specifications, codes, and performance guarantees.
Engineering & Design:
Lead the engineering design of burners, combustion systems, and associated equipment. Perform thermal calculations, heat transfer analysis, combustion modeling, and system integration. Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards (NFPA, ASME, API, etc.).
Field Service & Technical Support:
Provide on-site and remote technical support during installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and optimization of burner systems. Diagnose combustion issues and implement corrective actions to resolve performance or emissions problems.
Emissions Control Systems:
Design and optimize systems incorporating Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technologies to achieve low-NOx compliance.
Project Execution:
Manage technical aspects of projects from quotation through handover, coordinating with internal teams (manufacturing, procurement, controls) and external stakeholders (customers, contractors, regulators).
Continuous Improvement:
Evaluate new technologies, materials, and design methodologies to enhance burner performance, efficiency, and reliability. Support development of standard products and custom solutions.
Documentation & Compliance:
Generate engineering reports, operating manuals, test procedures, and as-built documentation. Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in combustion systems, burner design, or industrial process engineering.
- Strong background in industrial and utility burners, including natural gas, oil, and multi-fuel applications.
- Proven experience in technical quoting, cost estimation, and proposal writing.
- Hands-on field service or commissioning experience in combustion-related equipment.
- Solid understanding of combustion principles, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and emissions control.
- Proficiency with engineering software tools (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel (estimated 20-40%) for field support and customer meetings.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with SNCR and SCR systems for NOx reduction.
- CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modeling experience (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, or similar).
- Knowledge of burner management systems (BMS), flame safety, and control logic.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility.
