Natural Gas Compression Additional Compensation:
Quarterly Bonus Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Lead Controls Engineer to join our engineering team and provide technical leadership in the design, development, and execution of control systems for natural gas compression and power generation packages . Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will lead complex projects while mentoring a team of controls engineers to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and high-quality engineered solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in PLC-based control systems, electrical design, instrumentation, automation, and gas compression package engineering. This individual will collaborate closely with project management, manufacturing, applications engineering, field service, and customers throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and engineering of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for natural gas compression and power generation packages. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to controls engineers and designers throughout project execution. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring engineering schedules, budgets, and quality objectives are achieved. Develop control system architectures, PLC and DCS control philosophies, and detailed sequences of operation. Prepare and review I/O lists, instrumentation data sheets, cable schedules, junction box drawings, and control panel documentation. Perform equipment sizing and selection for instrumentation, electrical distribution, VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, control panels, wiring systems, and associated Bill of Materials. Review vendor quotations and drawings for technical compliance with project specifications and applicable standards. Participate in HAZOP reviews, internal design reviews, and customer engineering meetings. Support proposal development by working with Sales and Applications Engineering teams during project estimation. Coordinate with design, fabrication, and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate execution of engineering deliverables. Troubleshoot control panels and support PLC program uploads, downloads, modifications, and commissioning activities. Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), startup activities, and field commissioning support. Assist service and warranty teams with troubleshooting, customer support, and warranty investigations. Identify engineering process improvements and contribute to the development of company engineering standards and best practices. Manage engineering scope changes and coordinate change orders with project management teams. Ensure all project documentation meets customer requirements and company quality standards. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience designing controls systems for natural gas compression packages, gas processing equipment, or industrial process systems . Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, PanelView HMIs, Dynamic Controls, and Centurion Plus control systems. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, and DF1 communications. Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and applicable standards including NEC, CSA, UL, ETL, IECEx, and ATEX. Experience developing control narratives, electrical schematics, and instrumentation documentation. Strong troubleshooting skills with control panels, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems. Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving abilities. Proficient with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation software. Preferred Experience Natural gas compression package design Compressor controls and sequencing Gas processing equipment controls SCADA integration VFD applications Compressor station commissioning Industrial networking and remote monitoring systems Physical Requirements Ability to occasionally bend, climb, squat, twist, reach, and work in industrial environments. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally. Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet when required. Must comply with all OSHA safety regulations and wear required PPE while in manufacturing or field environments.
Pay:
$130,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
