Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager will lead the design and development of mobile and stationary power generation packages. This role is responsible for managing a team of mechanical engineers and overseeing the full design lifecycle, from concept through production release, ensuring designs meet customer specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role, where the manager will actively contribute to mechanical design work using SolidWorks, in addition to leading the engineering team. The position balances technical design responsibilities with team leadership to support high-quality, manufacturable products delivered on time. This position will be based in Waller, TX - onsite daily.
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers; set priorities and manage workload to support project timelines Own mechanical design of stationary and mobile power generation packages from concept through production release Oversee design of engine-generator packages, enclosures, skids/bases, and supporting systems (fuel, cooling, exhaust, lubrication) Direct development of mechanical layouts, fabricated assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks Translate customer specifications and site requirements into cost-effective, manufacturable designs Establish and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, drawings, BOMs, and design documentation Drive design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and partner cross-functionally with production, supply chain, and quality teams Manage engineering schedules, deliverables, and resource allocation to meet customer commitments Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, UL, NEC, ASME, ISO 8528 as applicable) Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production and field issues Evaluate and select components, materials, and vendors in collaboration with supply chain Provide technical guidance to sales and applications engineering during proposals and customer configurations Support prototype builds, testing, and design validation activities Collaborate cross-functionally with production, supply chain, quality, and applications engineering teams to ensure alignment on design requirements, manufacturability, and project delivery Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and product cost optimization Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity
Eligibility Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Eight (8) or more years of mechanical design experience, preferably within power generation or mobile equipment packaging Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising engineering teams Proficiency in SolidWorks, including design, detailing, and production drawings Experience with GD&T, weldments, sheet metal, and structural design Hands-on experience with skids, enclosures, fabricated assemblies, and equipment layout/packaging Familiarity with gensets, engines, or industrial power equipment preferred Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred) Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required Valid driver's license Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
