LOCATION
Sunnyvale , CA Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Robotics System Integration team. This position focuses on the design, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing systems utilizing industrial robots and peripheral equipment. This role is not limited to robot arm design itself. Instead, the engineer will be responsible for the overall system layout and mechanical integration of robotic cells, including fixtures, conveyors, safety equipment, tooling, and production line components. The ideal candidate will work closely with controls engineers, customers, vendors, and project managers to deliver turnkey automation solutions for manufacturing environments. [ Essential Duties ] Design and develop robotic work cells and automated production systems for manufacturing applications Create mechanical layouts, system concepts, and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software Design and integrate peripheral equipment including: End-of-arm tooling (EOAT) Fixtures and jigs Conveyor systems Safety guarding and fencing Machine interfaces Material handling systems Support system integration, installation, commissioning, and startup activities at customer sites Collaborate with controls engineers and robot programmers to ensure successful system operation Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate customer production requirements Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding component selection and procurement Participate in customer meetings, project reviews, and technical discussions Troubleshoot mechanical issues during build, testing, and production launch phases Ensure designs comply with safety standards and customer specifications Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering documentation updates [ Holidays ] Saturdays, Sundays, and National Holidays [ Qualifications ] Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing systems Experience with system integration and automated production equipment preferred Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor Understanding of industrial robotics and manufacturing processes Knowledge of pneumatic systems, conveyors, tooling, and machine design Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications Strong problem-solving and communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Willingness to travel domestically for installation and customer support as needed
