Position OverviewCodman Academy Charter Public School seeks an innovative and dynamic Encore STEAM Instructor to design, develop, and deliver high-quality K12 programming in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Working in close collaboration with the Encore Directors, this educator will lead the STEAM track with a particular focus on coding, engineering, maker space projects, and robotics. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and build both foundational skills and long-term student interest in STEAM fields.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Design & InstructionDevelop a vertically aligned K12 STEAM
curriculum that builds skills progressively across grade levels.
Lead direct instruction in coding, engineering, robotics, and maker space activities, ensuring age-appropriate, engaging, and rigorous learning experiences.
Integrate project-based and hands-on learning opportunities that encourage problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration.
Incorporate culturally responsive practices to make STEAM accessible and relevant to all students, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
Student Engagement & EnrichmentCreate a learning environment where creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking are celebrated.
Guide students in completing individual and collaborative projects, culminating in showcases, exhibitions, or competitions.
Provide targeted support for students at varying skill levels to ensure equitable participation and growth.
Introduce students to STEAM careers and connect classroom activities to real-world applications.
Collaboration & School EngagementWork with Encore Directors to ensure program alignment with Codmans mission, strategic goals, and K12 learning outcomes.
Partner with classroom teachers and other Encore staff to integrate STEAM concepts into interdisciplinary projects.
Maintain strong communication with families to encourage participation and share student achievements.
Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Encore program.Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:
Bachelors degree in a related field (Education, Computer Science, Engineering, STEM/STEAM, or similar).Experience designing and delivering hands-on STEM/STEAM
programming for K12 students.
Proficiency in coding platforms, robotics kits, maker space tools, and engineering concepts.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.Preferred:
Experience in both elementary and secondary education settings.
Background in project-based learning, robotics competitions, or makerspace management.
Familiarity with EL Education or expeditionary learning models.
Ability to integrate arts and design thinking into STEM content.
