Job Description
Description Amazon is seeking a partnership-focused, talented, and motivated Sr. Electrical Engineer (Panel Design) to work on the design of industrial automation electrical control panels. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing the electrical connections inside industrial electrical AC/DC and DC/DC cabinets with voltages in the 100-600VAC and 5-60VDC ranges. This candidate must have the ability to work well both independently and in team settings. The candidate is expected to be able to own the entire electrical solution for our product, including specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing. This position reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager. This team has directly designed the electronics in several robots, some of which have >750,000 units deployed throughout the Amazon's global industrial Fulfillment Network

- Design Industrial Electrical Control Panel schematics following industry best practices.
- Review specifications and schematics for compliance with relevant safety standards such as NFPA79 and UL508A.
- Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including design, prototyping, validation, testing and certification.
- Specify, Integrate and Deploy AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies as part of Electrical
- Control Panels in industrial automation equipment.
- Specify, Integrate and Deploy semi-custom batteries in industrial automation systems.
- Ensure the specifications of the power system meet the customer needs as well as regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate all activities within the engineering discipline for the project.
- Ensure coordination with other disciplines is effective for each project.
- Thorough comprehension of technical principles and concepts in Electrical Engineering .
- Write and develop functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures.
- Facilitate product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments.
- Execute tasks to dynamic schedules.
- Establish development processes to meet industry standards for functionally safe control systems (IEC 61508).
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
- 5+ years of experience designing the electrical connections inside industrial electrical AC/DC and DC/DC cabinets with voltages in the 100-600VAC and 5-60VDC ranges.
- Experience with UL508A/NFPA79/IEC60204-1 and the impact to Electrical Panel Design
- Experience specifying COTs components for use within 100-600VAC systems:
- Breakers, relays and fuses
- Power line filters and choke design and selection
- Power factor correction
- Variable Frequency Dive specification and integration
- Energy storage and regeneration (UPS, batteries, super capacitors, etc.) design and selection
- Energy dissipation (bleeder resistors) design and selection
- Experience with electrical enclosure design including layout best practices.
- Used Eplan or equivalent CAD tool for electrical hardware designs of machinery.
- Extensive knowledge of European and American design standards
- Ability to lead a technical team
- Experience executing design reviews in front of interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated strong ability to move seamlessly between levels of abstraction
- from system to the "nuts and bolts" implementation.
- Extensive system design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical subsystems and debugging experience
- Commitment to rigorous testing practices and design process flows Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- EPLAN Certified Engineer (ECE)
- Experience with scripting in EPLAN
- Experience with EPLAN Propanel & Smart Wiring modules
- Extensive knowledge of
UL508A/NFPA79/IEC60204-1
- Knowledge of Machine Directive 2006/42/EG
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
