We combine precision-driven robotic manufacturing, CNC fabrication technologies, and AI-enabled computational architectural modeling to deliver next-generation construction — high quality, sustainably produced buildings in less time. We are growing fast and looking for innovative, driven people who share our purpose. The sky is the limit for the future of IST — come help us build it. The Role We are looking for an innovative, deadline-driven Steel Rollforming & Robotics Engineer to join our factory team in Grand Rapids. Design, develop, and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices supporting factory production. Create and deploy automated systems for industrialized construction workcells. Develop design documents for mechanical parts and finished products. Identify weaknesses in the production line or finished products and drive improvements. Select appropriate tools and materials for manufacturing processes. Document findings and present equipment performance data to cross-functional teams. Understand engineering briefs and develop original, practical solutions. Support onboarding and training of junior engineers or apprentices. Experience with CNC machine integration and automated fabrication lines. Nice to Have Background in light-gauge steel framing systems or prefabricated construction. 4+ years of hands-on experience in a panelization or modular manufacturing factory environment. Familiarity with FMEA, root cause analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies. Working Environment On-site at our Grand Rapids, Michigan manufacturing facility. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. Willingness to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs when required. Occasional standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
