Job Description

Tesla is seeking a Controls Dev Engineer (Robotics) on the Semi team to be part of a world-class team of engineers that are responsible for designing and building the robotic equipment at the Tesla factories. As a Controls Dev Engineer, you are responsible for any robotics equipment solutions for all automotive projects. This includes having extensive theoretical and hands-on experience of 2 years in all facets of robotic applications used in Manufacturing, as well as experience managing new product introductions, equipment projects (new installations) and process optimization, upgrades & modifications. The key objective of the Vehicle Manufacturing Controls Engineering team is developing new and innovative solutions in the factory and help Tesla achieve its ambitious manufacturing goals. Responsible for designing, selecting, managing, programming, and commissioning of automation equipment. Responsible for implementing and managing continuous process optimization including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality, productivity and reduce overall waste Overall responsibility for all robotics-related activities in the shop. Leading and assisting production in all robotics related topics and issues. Support and aid maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required by modifications Identify weak areas of the production systems using root cause analysis and first principles thinking and implement effective countermeasures using all available means Design, implement and maintain robot vision guidance systems that will enable fully automated production lines Optimization and improvement of human machine interfaces, and SCADA systems and MES interfaces for the vehicle organization Creation and improvements of equipment safety standards, and the implementation of those standards into the manufacturing equipment, including periodic checks and qualification inspections; Understand and program using several different programming styles, including ladder logic, structured text Degree in Robotics Engineering or equivalent experience 2+ years of professional robotics experience in automotive industry. 2+ years of advanced robotics programming knowledge on KUKA, Fanuc, or equivalent robotics in a professional environment Basic PLC programing skills with, Siemens, Rockwell or equivalent Robotic safety programing including Kuka Safe, DCS Proven project management experience Proficient in CAD working with electrical diagrams and prints Great problem-solving skills and analytical thinking Proven interpersonal skills and ability to objectively resolve conflict within a large group; strong communication skills, both verbal and written; Able to work flexible hours and schedules Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
