Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer - Automation and Robotics is responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and support of automated systems and tooling from concept through manufacturing and implementation. This role applies sound engineering principles to develop reliable, safe, and manufacturable designs while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The Mechanical Engineer - Automation and Robotics contributes technical expertise to assigned projects, supports continuous improvement efforts, and assists with troubleshooting and validation activities.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet project and lifecycle requirements, including design, validation, and troubleshooting. Design new and modified mechanical components and subsystems in accordance with engineering standards and defined project scope. Support research, development, and evaluation activities related to automation systems and tooling. Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, and manufacturability. Collaborate with purchasing and vendors to respond to technical questions, deviations, or concession requests. Assist quality and inspection teams in resolving non-conformances. Execute engineering analysis using established engineering principles to improve manufacturability and robustness of assigned components. Provide technical support to team members and contribute to small- to large-scale automation projects. Create and maintain engineering documentation for analysis, design decisions, and historical records. Use engineering judgment to identify opportunities for process and design improvements and communicate recommendations effectively.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4-7 years of relevant experience. Experience in automation system design and precision machine design. Working knowledge of component design, manufacturing processes, materials, heat treating, and GD&T. Working knowledge of fabrication and DFMA principles. General knowledge of machining processes and standards. Proficiency in SolidWorks software. Experience using FEA tools and understanding FEA principles (SolidWorks FEA preferred). Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently with general direction while following established processes and company policies. Demonstrated sense of urgency in resolving design issues and meeting project deadlines. Ability to produce clear technical documentation and coordinate with stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Safety regulations knowledge Registered Professional Engineer in good standings in the United States or in the process of getting license within the first year of employment. Preferably in Machine Design and Materials Basic knowledge on Lean and Six Sigma concepts Experience in integrating with robots and end of arm tooling design Experience with welding
