Job Title:
Mechatronics Technician Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Mechatronics / Robotics Technician to support the development, integration, and deployment of advanced robotic systems. You will work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot, build, and improve complex electro-mechanical systems in a highly dynamic environment. This role sits at the intersection of technician and engineer and is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, hands-on execution, and taking a concept from documentation to a fully functioning system. Responsibilities Diagnose, test, and repair issues across autonomous mobile robots, robotic arms, and integrated manufacturing systems. Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, and adjustment of ruggedized electro-mechanical equipment operating in field and outdoor environments. Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings to isolate and resolve system faults. Build and validate electrical assemblies, including wire routing, terminations, and connector integration in accordance with NEC, UL, and IEEE standards. Install and align motors, actuators, hydraulic components, and sensor systems such as LiDAR, GPS, and IMUs within robotic platforms. Support robotics and motion control systems, including servo motors, drives, encoders, and related motion control hardware. Calibrate and tune systems by updating PLC parameters, firmware, and control interfaces to improve performance and reliability. Document work clearly and thoroughly, including designs, troubleshooting steps, modifications, test procedures, and results using drawings, notes, diagrams, or CAD tools. Assist with commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of equipment on active project sites, including outdoor and construction or manufacturing environments. Follow and enforce safety standards, including
OSHA, ISO/ANSI
robotics safety guidelines, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Collaborate closely with engineers and other technicians to bridge the gap between conceptual designs and practical implementation. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance system robustness, maintainability, and performance. Essential Skills experience in robotics, mechatronics, automation, or industrial equipment support, or a strong equivalent hands-on. Hands-on experience with robotics systems or motion control components such as servos, encoders, and drives. Familiarity with electrical systems, hydraulics, or industrial machinery such as pumps, mixers, and high-voltage equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Basic applied understanding of electrical and mechanical principles and the ability to use them in practical troubleshooting and assembly. Experience documenting work using drawings, notes, diagrams, or CAD tools to capture designs, changes, and test results. Comfort working in a hands-on, fast-paced, and physically demanding environment, including field and outdoor settings. Foundational robotics knowledge sufficient to support troubleshooting, integration, and maintenance of robotic systems. Familiarity with CAD systems and the ability to document concepts or designs. Strong troubleshooting skills in automation, motion control, and system integration contexts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar for documenting concepts or detailed designs. Exposure to machine vision systems or advanced sensor integration within robotic or automated platforms. Experience in aerospace, robotics, or industrial automation environments. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field (preferred but not required). Hobbyist or personal project experience with drones, robotics builds, or automation projects that demonstrates curiosity and hands-on ability. Ability to excel either as a strong mechatronics specialist or as a generalist with broad skills in hydraulics, electrical systems, and industrial machinery assembly. Openness to candidates at the entry-level or early-career engineer stage who bring strong troubleshooting aptitude and a willingness to learn. Work Environment This role is primarily onsite with a standard schedule of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility as project needs evolve. You will split your time between lab and shop environments and field support at active project sites, including outdoor locations. The work environment includes exposure to heat, varying weather conditions, and active construction or manufacturing settings. Projects may require extended hours or weekend work to support commissioning, troubleshooting, or critical milestones. You will work around advanced robotics, automation systems, industrial equipment, and related test and calibration tools in a setting that values hands-on problem solving, collaboration with engineering teams, and continuous learning.
