Job Description

Job Title:
Mechatronics & Robotics Technician Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging, distribution, and material handling equipment, including conveyors and pneumatic systems, within a large, highly automated facility. As a Maintenance Technician II, you support operations by performing quality predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, and ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently to minimize downtime. Responsibilities Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as automated conveyor systems and related components. Perform predictive and preventative maintenance routines on material handling, automation, and robotic equipment, following established documentation and procedures. Complete and document preventative maintenance tasks, including filling out PM sheets accurately and on time. Conduct battery changes and perform preventative maintenance on industrial batteries to ensure reliable equipment operation. Enter equipment downtime data into a daily log and maintain accurate maintenance records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Manage and process work orders in the CMMS, ensuring tasks are prioritized, updated, and closed out correctly. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems on material handling and robotic equipment. Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective repairs to restore safe and efficient operation. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and repair activities. Track, organize, and store department inventory, including spare parts and critical components, to support timely maintenance. Apply and demonstrate safety standards consistently while performing maintenance, in line with OEM guidelines and facility safety requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes. Collaborate with operations and maintenance team members to minimize downtime and maintain high equipment availability. Operate and maintain robotic systems and PLC-based controls as needed to support automated material handling operations. Assist in monitoring basic input and output functions of building operations systems and address issues as they arise. Essential Skills At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment. 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. 2+ years of knowledge and practical application of electrical and electronic principles. 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment. 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing material handling equipment systems. 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Hands-on experience with automated conveyor systems and material handling equipment. Ability to complete preventative maintenance tasks on conveyors, pneumatic systems, motors, and related equipment.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Comfort working in a data-driven environment where performance metrics are tracked. Ability to walk significant distances during the shift and safely lift up to 49 lbs as part of regular duties. Willingness to work any 10-hour shift as assigned, including days, nights, or weekends as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment. Background in running diagnostics, performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and creating work orders. Specific experience working with conveyors and other material handling equipment, including controls and robotics. Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage and track maintenance activities. Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to learn, grow, and enhance maintenance practices. Experience with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and facility safety requirements. Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field. 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field. 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems. Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in a high-speed, automated environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a large, high-speed distribution facility that relies heavily on automation and robotic components to move and process products. The environment is data-driven, with systems in place to track performance and ensure expectations are met, while still allowing you to manage your work with a degree of autonomy. The role is physically active, requiring you to walk significant distances—often around 10,000 steps per day—and to safely lift up to 49 pounds as part of your regular tasks. You interact regularly with conveyors, material handling systems, pneumatic equipment, robotic systems, and PLC-based controls, using modern maintenance tools and a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). All candidates must be open to working any 10-hour shift, with positions available across various shift schedules to support continuous facility operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Surprise, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
