Job Summary The Robotics Technician is a hands‐on, execution‐focused contributor responsible for building, modifying, and troubleshooting industrial robot programs in a live production environment. This role is intentionally narrow in scope and designed to attract experienced practitioners who can step in and support production immediately. This is not a controls engineering role; however, limited familiarity with PLCs is considered beneficial.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program, debug, and troubleshoot Yaskawa Motoman robotic systems, including GP25 robots using YRC1000 pendant controllers. Provide immediate hands‐on programming support for waterjet cutting operations; application‐specific techniques can be learned on the job through internal procedures. Build and refine robot programs to support production launch, downtime recovery, and process stabilization. Provide on‐call or scheduled coverage during vacations, absences, or unexpected resource gaps. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineers at each site to diagnose issues and implement practical, sustainable fixes. Receive feedback from quality technicians who provide CMM data to incorporate into program changes. Quick ability to adjust programs to stay within print tolerances. Support robotic applications for waterjet cutting. Document program changes and communicate updates clearly to engineering and operations stakeholders. Adhere to all safety, quality, and equipment standards while working on or around automated systems.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:
Direct, hands‐on experience programming industrial robots in a production environment. Demonstrated experience with GP25 robot platforms and YRC1000 pendant controllers (preferred but not required). Proven ability to independently build, modify, and troubleshoot robot programs with minimal supervision. Strong practical troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of industrial automation safety. Availability to support variable, short‐notice scheduling based on production needs. Experience programming Motoman robots for welding, material handling, spraying, or similar applications (considered directly transferable) (preferred but not required). Waterjet robotic application experience (preferred but not required). Multi‐axis robotic programming experience. Has mechanical aptitude and proficient 3D spatial thinking. Limited PLC familiarity for troubleshooting support (not a controls engineering role) (preferred but not required). Exposure to Fanuc, Motoman, or ABB robotic platforms (preferred but not required).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time role onsite; flexible arrangement including on‐call or limited remote support.
Typical workload:
40 - 45 hours per week, variable based on production needs. Maximum hours not to exceed 60 hours per week. This position requires weekend support when operations are building headliners.
