Job Description

Robot Operator -
Laser Welding Lab Location:
Greenfield, Indiana Civan Lasers is a global leader in Dynamic Beam Laser (DBL) technology for advanced industrial welding. Our systems are used in industries including shipbuilding, automotive, aerospace, energy, and defense. We are expanding our U.S. application lab team and looking for a hands-on Robot Operator to support laser welding trials, customer demonstrations, and process development projects. Position Overview This is a hands-on role focused on operating robotic welding systems and supporting daily lab activities. The position includes setup and operation of laser welding equipment, sample preparation, robot programming, basic troubleshooting, and supporting engineers during customer projects and demonstrations. This is a temporary position for a specific project, with the possibility to continue into a longer-term role based on project needs and performance. Experience with industrial robots, welding equipment, or manufacturing machinery is highly valued. Responsibilities Operate robotic laser welding systems and support welding trials Program and adjust robotic welding paths and motion sequences Set up fixtures, materials, and workpieces for testing Support welding engineers during process development activities Prepare metal samples and weld coupons Perform cutting, grinding, polishing, and basic metallography preparation Document welding parameters and test results Maintain lab equipment, tools, and work areas Assist with material handling and lab logistics Follow all laser and shop safety procedures Requirements Hands-on experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or machine operation Experience programming industrial robots Experience operating industrial robots, CNC equipment, or automated machinery Familiarity with welding processes or metal fabrication Ability to read basic technical drawings and work instructions Comfortable working in a hands-on shop and laboratory environment Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience with Fanuc robot programming is a strong advantage Experience with laser welding systems Experience preparing weld cross sections or metallographic samples Additional Information Temporary project-based position with potential for long-term employment Full-time position Opportunity to work with advanced laser welding technology Fast-growing and innovative work environment Training will be provided for the right candidate
Pay:
$25.41 - $30.60 per hour
