Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Temporary) Job Description The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician supports a large, highly automated distribution facility by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, including conveyors and robotic systems. This role focuses on performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues, and ensuring equipment uptime through accurate documentation and effective use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The technician works hands-on with high-speed automation and robotic components to keep operations running safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as automated conveyor systems and related components. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, following established procedures and documentation requirements. Conduct battery changes and perform preventive maintenance on industrial batteries to ensure safe and reliable operation. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with material handling equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic faults, and implement effective repairs. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation to support installation, troubleshooting, and repair activities. Enter downtime data and maintenance activities into daily logs and complete preventive maintenance (PM) sheets accurately and on time. Manage and close work orders within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring accurate recording of labor, parts, and repair details. Apply knowledge of basic electrical components and electronic principles to identify and resolve equipment issues. Track, store, and organize department inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies, to ensure availability of critical components. Follow and demonstrate established safety standards and procedures while performing all maintenance tasks. Collaborate with operations and maintenance team members to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices. Essential Skills 2+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. 2+ years of knowledge and practical experience with electrical and electronic principles. 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or similar environment. 1+ year of experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics of material handling equipment systems. 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Experience working with automated conveyor systems and related industrial equipment. Ability to complete preventive maintenance on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, and related components. Ability to perform basic PLC troubleshooting to support diagnostics and repairs.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment. Running diagnostics, performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and creating work orders. Experience specifically with conveyors and other material handling equipment (MHE), including controls and robotics. Comfort working with high-speed automation and robotic equipment. Strong organizational skills for managing inventory and spare parts. Ability to work effectively in a data-driven environment where performance metrics are tracked. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a large, fast-paced distribution facility that relies heavily on high-speed automation and robotic components. The environment is data-driven, with systems in place to track performance and ensure expectations are met, while still allowing you to manage your work independently. The role is physically active, requiring comfort with walking significant distances—often around 10,000 steps per day—and safely lifting up to 49 pounds as needed. You interact regularly with advanced conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and robotic technologies, and you use a CMMS and standard office applications to document your work. All candidates must be open to working any 10-hour shift, as positions are available across multiple shifts to support around-the-clock operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Summerville, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
