$130000-150000 / year Job Description Sirius Staffing is seeking a Principal Engineer-Solar NERC Compliance for a direct hire in Apollo Beach, FL.
Pay:
$130,000 to $150,000( Sign in bounce will be offered. ( $5k-$10k)
Schedule:
Monday - Friday Summary Responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of solar generation assets and their integration with the bulk electric system. This role focuses on inverter-based resources (IBRs) and solar facilities, supporting compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards through engineering analysis, asset modeling, documentation, and mitigation planning. This position partners closely with generation, transmission, substation, and grid operations teams to proactively identify reliability and compliance risks, develop corrective strategies, and support long-term asset performance. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and support models, calculations, databases, and analytics used to define and monitor solar asset performance and grid integration. Evaluate inverter-based resources and related electrical equipment to identify reliability, protection, and performance risks. Establish consistent methods for monitoring asset condition, performance, and operating limits. Support compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards related to solar generation and inverter-based resources. Assist with compliance documentation, evidence development, and corrective action plans. Participate in evaluating mitigation strategies for identified compliance or reliability gaps. Support technical assessments of solar facilities and associated electrical systems to evaluate condition, performance, and operational capability. Collect and analyze data, assist with field measurements, and support engineering studies related to system health and reliability. Support projects that enhance solar reliability, compliance, and operational performance. Contribute to the development of standardized processes, tools, and documentation for asset management and regulatory compliance. Provide technical support to plant and grid operations teams, including troubleshooting, performance analysis, and post-event reviews. Coordinate with maintenance teams to align asset strategies with reliability and compliance objectives. Develop and maintain procedures, checklists, and training materials related to solar reliability, grid performance, and NERC compliance. Participate in training initiatives to strengthen technical and regulatory knowledge across teams. Perform other engineering duties as needed to support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of solar generation and grid systems. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience. Demonstrated knowledge and capability in electrical system reliability, asset management, and power system operations. Ability to support NERC compliance activities related to generation and inverter-based resources. Willingness to travel locally within Hillsborough County as needed.
Preferred:
Degree in Electrical Engineering. Coursework or experience in reliability engineering, statistics, analytics, or multi-discipline engineering. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience with electrical equipment including inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and rotating equipment.
