Woolley and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician/Party Chief to join a team delivering full-service professional land surveying and mapping for public agencies throughout California. From urban infrastructure and port facilities to coastal properties and remote terrain, our work spans a broad range of environments and disciplines — boundary surveys, construction staking, right-of-way engineering, geodetic control, and more. The Work You'll be part of a field and office team delivering the full spectrum of professional land surveying and mapping services that DWA performs for public agencies throughout California. Your work will span a wide range of disciplines, including: Boundary surveys, monument perpetuation, and Corner Record preparation Topographic and preliminary design surveys Construction staking and as-built surveys Right-of-way engineering, including legal descriptions, easements, dedications, and vacations

surveys and geodetic control networks Records of Survey, parcel maps, tract maps, and lot line adjustments Public land survey retracement, monument recovery and setting Aerial photogrammetry and UAS (drone) data collection Underground utility locating and mapping Settlement and subsidence monitoring Map checking and coordination with public agency surveyors Field assignments may include work in urban, coastal, airport, port, and remote or mountainous environments. Some assignments require hiking challenging terrain, off-road driving, or operating in active construction or traffic zones. Office work includes data processing, drafting, report preparation, and coordination with project managers and agency clients. Comfort and competence in both settings is essential. Why Work With Us? Key Responsibilities Perform field surveys using GPS, robotic total stations, and other survey tools Execute boundary and topographic surveys Process field data in AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, and StarNET (or equivalent) Coordinate with project managers to ensure high-quality, accurate deliverables Draft survey reports, maps, field notes, and supporting documentation Contribute to schedule management and field team coordination Follow strict safety protocols and environmental compliance practices Operate drones (if Part 107 certified) for aerial data collection Support continuous improvement in field practices and technical workflows What We're Looking For Ideal qualifications (not all required upfront): LSIT required within 6 months of hire (unless already obtained); PLS preferred FAA Part 107 certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months) Comfortable in both field and office environments Familiarity with AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, StarNET, and GIS platforms Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment Willingness to undergo random drug testing as required by clients We understand that not every candidate will meet all qualifications—if you bring strong fundamentals and a desire to grow, we'll invest in your development.
