Job Description

Company Overview GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering. Summary As a Survey CAD Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting geomatics and surveying projects by preparing and drafting technical drawings and plans using CAD software. Working closely with Project Surveyors and other team members, you will contribute to the production of accurate and detailed survey deliverables that meet project requirements and client specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
Utilize AutoCAD and other CAD software to prepare detailed technical drawings, plats, maps, and other survey deliverables based on survey data and project specifications. Assist in processing and organizing survey data collected in the field, ensuring accuracy and completeness for use in CAD drafting and project documentation. Prepare survey plans, subdivision plats, boundary surveys, topographic maps, and other technical drawings under the guidance of senior surveyors or project managers. Conduct quality checks on CAD drawings and project deliverables to ensure accuracy, adherence to industry standards, and compliance with project requirements. Maintain organized project documentation, including CAD files, survey records, field notes, and project reports, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Collaborate with survey crews, project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of project tasks. Stay updated with CAD software advancements, surveying technologies, and industry best practices to enhance technical skills and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software used in surveying and mapping (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroStation). Previous experience in CAD drafting for surveying, engineering, or related fields is advantageous. Knowledge of surveying principles, terminology, and practices. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings and plans. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently to meet project deadlines. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Regularly engage in sitting, standing, or walking activities. Occasionally handle lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items of varying weights. Perform reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, or twisting motions as needed. Other physical requirements may arise depending on job tasks. Work may be conducted at a desk or workstation situated in confined areas. Experience moderate levels of noise indoors and outdoors. Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as required. Ability to thrive in both team-oriented settings and independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
