Job Description

Overview The Rodman / Instrument Man assists the survey crew in performing land surveys for construction, engineering and Property boundary projects. This position supports the Crew Chief by operating survey equipment, collecting field data, setting stakes and markers and ensuring accurate measurements are obtained in the field. This is an entry-level to intermediate position that offers advancement opportunities within the surveying profession. Responsibilities Assist with Boundary, topographic, construction and as-built surveys. Set up, operate, and maintain survey equipment including GPS units, total stations, data collectors, levels and prisms. Hold and position survey rods, prisms and targets for accurate measurements. Place stakes, markers, flags, and monumentation as directed by the Crew Chief Collect, record and verify survey measurements and field notes. Clear brush, vegetation and other obstacles to establish survey lines Load, unload, transport and maintain survey equipment and supplies Work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions including walking long distances, standing, bending, kneeling and climbing. Qualifications Previous surveying experience is preferred but not always required and for the right employee FRS will provide on-the-job training. Ability to learn surveying principles and equipment operation. Basic Math skills Ability to work effective as a team player. This position often serves and the first step toward becoming an Instrument Operator, Crew Chief or licenses
Professional Land Surveyor Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
