Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Survey Instrument Person/Field Technician at Westlake Consultants in our highly specialized Industrial Measurement Division is responsible for assisting in the collection of accurate field data using survey instruments and equipment. This role supports surveyors in conducting land surveys, mapping projects, and other related field activities to ensure precise measurements and data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain survey instruments and equipment, including total stations, GPS units, and levels. Assist surveyors in conducting field surveys and mapping projects, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation. Record and manage survey data, ensuring it is organized and accessible for analysis and reporting. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective survey operations. Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment in the field. Communicate with project managers and other stakeholders to provide updates on survey progress and findings. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to survey equipment and data collection processes.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in land surveying or a related field. Experience with field data collection and survey equipment operation.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in using survey instruments such as total stations, GPS, and levels. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maps. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and clients. Physical ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains. Basic computer skills for data entry and processing. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to be badged for work in sensitive/restricted areas (drug testing and background screening required) ~Valid drivers license
