The Surveyor will be responsible for performing field layout, collecting accurate survey data, and verifying that construction activities are completed in accordance with project plans and specifications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of grading, utilities, structures, and other project components while working closely with project management, quality control, and field crews. Duties Perform construction layout and staking for earthwork, utilities, concrete structures, roadways, and other project features. Operate GPS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, and other surveying instruments to collect and verify field measurements. Establish and maintain project control points and benchmarks. Conduct topographic surveys, as-built surveys, quantity verification, and progress tracking as required. Review plans, specifications, and survey control information to ensure accurate project layout. Process field data and prepare survey reports, sketches, and as-built drawings. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to support construction operations. Verify grades, elevations, alignments, and dimensions throughout construction activities. Maintain survey equipment and ensure all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly. Document survey activities and maintain accurate project records. Requirements Previous experience as a Surveyor on heavy civil, infrastructure, commercial, or federal construction projects. Proficiency with GPS systems, total stations, data collectors, and surveying software. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and survey control information. Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble Business Center, or similar software preferred. Strong understanding of construction staking, grade checking, and as-built documentation. Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to surveying and construction layout. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Physical Requirements Ability to walk uneven terrain and active construction sites. Ability to lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
