Surveying Technician

Seaworks Group is seeking to hire a Hydrographic Survey Technician to join our field crews based out of the Benton Harbor, MI area. Seaworks Group performs hydrographic surveys all around the United States, primarily in the Great Lakes region. We utilize sonar and other technologies equipped on boats for the bathymetric mapping of lakes, rivers, and ponds. You will perform tasks required for all aspects of hydrographic surveying alongside a senior hydrographic survey technician. No prior experience in this field is necessary, however, experience trailering and driving boats is a plus. This position generally requires overnight travel to jobsites for periods of one day to two weeks depending on the project. Employees may also work on a rotation. Most of the skills required for this position can and will be taught on the job. Someone in the Benton Harbor, MI area is preferred but not necessary.

DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Hard-working and willing to learn Trailer vessels to and from jobsites Operate vessel during surveys Run survey equipment and software Operate GPS equipment Help setup survey vessels and prepare for job mobilization Assist with equipment maintenance

PREFERED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of Hypack Software is a plus but not necessary Knowledge of multibeam and single-beam sonar installation, operations, and maintenance. Previous experience trailering boats or other trailers is a plus A good driving record Previous experience driving a boat is a plus Some experience and familiarity with computers Familiarity with Trimble GPS equipment is a plus but not necessary Comfortable with working on the water for hours at a time Ability to help lift heavy equipment at times Strong attention to detail Ability to work well with other crew members Necessary overnight travel

Pay:

$200.00 - $300.00 per day
