Description:
Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Field Survey Assistant to join our Detroit Headquarters based Survey Group, working on high-profile projects that are contributing to the revitalization of the City of Detroit as well as a variety of project needs in and around Metro Detroit. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work as part of a team on various surveying projects and assist a wide variety of client types from architects, developers, property owners and real estate professionals. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical knowledge, problem solving and analytic skills. A background in land surveying, carpentry or construction is a plus.
Typical responsibilities include:
Work with Field Survey Crew Chief conducting field visits to coordinate existing site conditions with raw survey data and record information. Work collaboratively with office personnel to ensure collection of data needed to complete surveys meeting the Client's objectives. Keep accurate notes and sketches. Assist in a variety of surveying tasks such as topographic surveys, boundary surveys, control surveys, differential leveling, GPS network surveys, construction layout, as-builts, ALTA surveys and grade certificates. Collect, import, export, and process field data. Take responsibility for care and security of truck and survey equipment. Understand and follow company and government safety rules and standards. Participate in internal discussions about surveying considerations and lessons learned from our projects.
